What is Kailo at
Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa?

The following page is an example of the Intranet site available to employees of Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa. Non-Mercy employees are welcome to browse, but are not eligible for contests and prizes. Sorry!...Smiley

What is Kailo?

Kailo, an Indo-European word meaning to be whole, uninjured, or to be of good omen, is Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa’s employee wellness initiative. Kailo is a gift of time, company time, to do some good things for yourself. You’ll get to know “Kailo Breaks” as participative, relaxing, healthy escapes. But before you jump to any conclusions, look at all that Kailo isn’t.

What isn’t Kailo?

  • No aerobic classes.
  • No incentive contests.
  • No weight-loss programs.
  • No mass health screenings.
  • No tofu and tree bark recipes.
  • No preaching, no judgmental attitudes, no height/weight charts, no food police, no guilt-trips, no self-righteous finger pointing, no goal setting.
  • No kidding.

Who is eligible?

All full and part-time employees and volunteers of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa, Hospice of North Iowa or Mercy Home Care.

Roman and Jahmes of 'One Drum'

Mercy employees celebrated Kailobration with the new world music of “One Drum”
